This northern entertainment district glows with neon signs and the energy of people. Known as one of Japan’s three major entertainment districts, the area offers a wide variety of establishments that cater to diverse needs, such as local cuisine restaurants and ramen stores, clubs and bars, and hotels.
Located in the Shikotsu-Toya National Park, this is one of the top hot spring resorts in Hokkaido. It is easily accessible, less than an hour south of central Sapporo by car. Visitors can enjoy beautiful seasonal scenery, such as Shiraito Falls, Yu-no-taki Falls, and Maizuru no Toro water pool, as well as activities such as rafting and Canadian canoeing.

This spring event is held in Odori Park where lilacs, the tree of Sapporo, are in full bloom. During the festival, visitors may receive lilac seedlings, observe a commemorative tree planting ceremony, and enjoy such features as a teahouse, a lilac café terrace, a brass band festival, and more.
Various events are held to enjoy Sapporo’s summer, including one of the largest beer garden venues in Japan and the Hokkai Bon Odori dance festival.
The event features a variety of seasonal food ingredients and local gourmet foods from all over Hokkaido, with a focus on gourmet foods representative of Sapporo, Hokkaido. It is a major event that attracts more than 2 million visitors.
Fantastical illuminations, including main objets d’art and standing tree decorations, brightly decorate Odori Park, Sapporo Ekimae-dori Avenue, Sapporo Station South Exit, Sapporo Kita 3-jo Plaza (Akapura), and Minami 1-jo-dori Avenue.
The Sapporo Snow Festival is a major winter event in Sapporo. There are three venues, each with a different atmosphere. At the Odori venue, snow and ice sculptures of various sizes stand in a row from Odori Park Nishi 1-chome to Nishi 11-chome, and are lit up at night. The Tsudome venue hosts a giant slide and various indoor and outdoor events where visitors can interact with snow, while the Susukino venue features an ice sculpture contest, illuminated ice sculptures, ice bars, and more.
